Slovenia's housing landscape is poised for significant positive change with the introduction of ambitious public housing plan.

Recognizing the urgent need to address the shortage of affordable rental units, the plan represents a proactive response to the growing demand for housing in the country.

Despite facing challenges such as a shortage of dwellings per 1000 inhabitants and a notable increase in housing prices, the government's commitment to constructing 5,000 new units by 2026, starting with 1,000 in 2024, is a promising development.

Central to this initiative is the National Public Housing Fund, which has seen a substantial increase in capital and seeks additional loan financing to support its construction projects. While there may be concerns about feasibility and sustainability, the government's decisive action signals a positive step forward in ensuring access to affordable housing for all Slovenians.
